John Henry Excavating Inc. was founded in the early 1970's performing mostly site and underground utility work on the northeastern side of Michigan. In 1980, the company incorporated and became an MDOT prequalified contractor constructing box culvert and span bridges around our home area. In recent years, we have started to branch out working and bidding projects throughout the entire state. Within the MDOT classification system, our firm carries both DBE and WBE status. We are prequalified in the following categories: EA (Grading, Drainage Structures and Aggregate Construction), Fa (Bridges and Special Structures), G (Building Moving and Demolition), I (Sodding, Seeding and Turf Establishment), J (Concrete, Curb, Gutter, Driveways, Sidewalks), K (Sewers and Watermains), Ka (Tunneling and Jacking), N2 (Clearing and Grubbing). We are an SBA and Hub Zone rated contractor as well. Our fleet of equipment includes: crawler lattice boom cranes, hydraulic cranes, excavators, loaders, graders, dozers, scrapers, gravel trains, flat bed trucks, boring and live tap machines, dewatering setups and pile driving equipment. In recent years, we have worked with many of the states prominent utility companies providing on call, emergency and facility services and assistance.
